About Our Club

Rugby is strong on the Pohutukawa Coast. Ever since the area was settled, residents have been playing and supporting rugby throughout the Auckland and Counties areas. Since the early 1970’s our club has been fully affiliated to the Counties-Manukau Rugby Football Union, and now plays teams from Te Kauwhata to Manurewa and from Maramarua to Weymouth.

We are a small club, fielding six junior teams (Under 6 to Under 13) and one Senior Division 2 Side. Although we are small, we are passionate about Rugby and we are fervent supporters of our community.

To us, Rugby is about bringing people together. It’s about getting our kids playing a sport they love, and having Mums and Dads watching them grow and develop. It’s about giving everyone the chance to play and to watch our national game in a supportive environment. It’s also about being a responsible supporter of community efforts to encourage healthy activities which bring the best out in everyone.

Junior Teams & Information

The junior membership has always been the driving force of BMRFC. We usually field 5 junior teams of various age groups which are led by a great team of managers. We are lucky to keep our enthusiastic coaches returning each year to take their team to the next level. We welcome players for 5 years to 13 years. (see below for secondary school pupils).
Cost of subs for Junior/Senior and Social Members:
Junior subs are set at $75 per season with.
All juniors who register for the 2010 season receive a sports bag (returned at the end of the season) and the option to either hire or buy a club tracksuit. Socks and shorts can be purchased separately.

For information on Joining a Junior Team please call Richard Lack or Conal Dempsey on the numbers above.

Secondary School Players

Is is most unfortunate the BMRFC can no longer welcome secondary school players to join our club. NZRFU, Secondary School Sports Directors of Counties area & Counties Manukau RFC have ruled all secondary school pupils in the Counties catchment area can no longer play for clubs. They have to play for their school. This is a big blow for our club, but we are most willing to assist any secondary school pupil in attaining a position in a rugby team of their chosen school.

We are presently looking for ways around this situation as our secondary school students predominantly attend schools in the Auckland area, not within the CMRFU catchment. Please contact us for updated information if you are U14 – U19 and still attending school.

The original four-lane Auckland harbour bridge was built between St Marys Bay on the city side and Northcote Point on the North Shore, crossing the narrowest part of Auckland Harbour. It had taken four years to complete.
