The Te Puru Community Charitable Trust

About the Trust

The Te Puru Community Charitable Trust was formed in 2002 to establish and then run the Te Puru Community Centre. The Trust was formed by the then Manukau City Council. The initial trustees saw the completion of the centre and got the operational side up and running. Today Te Puru Trust is governed by six independent trustees with day to day operations covered by a team made up of a Centre Manager, an Administration Manager, a Gymnastics, Marketing & Events Manager and a Sport & Recreation manager.

Strategic Goals

The strategic priorities of the Trust for the next 3 years are to support the Trust’s purpose “To create quality experiences in a sustainable multipurpose facility enjoyed by our diverse community”

·        Satisfied user groups and engaged community.

·        Well governed facility.

·        Sustainable operations.

·        Growing the facility’s multipurpose use.

Funding

The Te Puru Community Centre forms part of the Auckland Councils Facilities Network. As a result, 35% of the Trust’s funding comes from the Auckland Council facilities Operating Grant which enables it to provide activities and spaces for the community to engage in active sport, recreation and leisure.

The remaining funding required to operate the facility, comes from affiliation fees, facility hire, sport programmes, school holiday programmes, hospitality sales, and events.

The Trust supports the local communities through discounted room hires, sharing of profits and employing staff from within the community.

Jess Milne

  • Kia Ora,

My name is Jess and I am the secretary for the Te Puru Community Charitable Trust. I took on this role in October 2024, having previously served as a Trustee for over 2 years.

My family and I moved to Beachlands/ Maraetai in 2019 and absolutely love our beautiful community. We have two boys: one at King’s College and one at Maraetai Beach School. I think we’re very lucky to have the Te Puru Centre (such an amazing asset!) so close to home.

    Nga mihi nui
