Support Te Puru – Have Your Say
Our Beachlands and Maraetai community is growing, and Te Puru plays an important role in supporting sport, recreation and community connection.
We are encouraging our community to support several improvements to Te Puru Park and Community Centre through Auckland Council’s Annual Plan 2026/2027 consultation.
Submissions close Sunday 29 March 2026.
Why Te Puru Matters
Te Puru Community Centre and Park are at the heart of our local community. Every week families, schools, sports clubs and community groups use the facility for activities, events and recreation.
As our community continues to grow, demand on the facility is increasing. Ensuring Te Puru remains safe, accessible and fit for the future is important for supporting the wellbeing of Beachlands and Maraetai.
Community Priorities for Te Puru
-
Te Puru Park is heavily used by sports teams, families and community members. When the recreation centre is closed there is currently no access to drinkable water.
Installing public water fountains would ensure safe and reliable access to water whenever the park is in use.
-
Te Puru is located on a busy road that is experiencing increasing traffic volumes.
We are advocating for:
• A reduced speed limit outside the facility
• A safe, designated bus stop outside Te PuruThese improvements would help ensure safer access for children, families and community groups.
-
Te Puru is a well-used and valued community facility. As participation continues to grow, the facility requires investment to support increasing demand.
Upgrading and maintaining the facility will help ensure it continues to serve our community now and into the future
